Quotes

"You ask me why I do not write something.... I think one's feelings waste themselves in words, they ought all to be distilled into actions and into actions which bring results."

Woodham Smith, Cecil; Florence Nightingale, Penguin (1951), rev. 1955

"Any physical theory is always provisional, in the sense that it is only a hypothesis: you can never prove it. No matter how many times the results of experiments agree with some theory, you can never be sure that the next time the result will not contradict the theory. On the other hand, you can disprove a theory by finding even a single observation that disagrees with the predictions of the theory... Each time new experiments are observed to agree with the predictions the theory survives, and our confidence in it is increased; but if ever a new observation is found to disagree, we have to abandon or modify the theory."

Hawking, S.W. 1988, A Brief History of Time, 1st edn, Bantam Press (Transworld Publishers), London, Auckland, Moorebank NSW.

"There are an awful lot of scientists today who believe that before very long we shall have unraveled all the secrets of the universe. There will be no puzzles anymore. To me it'd be really, really tragic because I think one of the most exciting things is this feeling of mystery, feeling of awe, the feeling of looking at a little live thing and being amazed by it and how its emerged through these hundreds of years of evolution and there it is and it is perfect and why."

This space is quite large and is intended for a fairly decent exhibition where many people can fit in one of the two areas or rest outside. unfortunately there couldn't be more details added in to give a proper sense of space as my computer died in the process. I would have liked to have fitted in a mini crowd, but my computer didnt really like it..

Upper Studio
Piccinini's is developed from the word 'living', so even though piccinini's works are so transformed ánd almost warped, i didn't feel that a weird and wacky environment should be the kind of studio she'd work in. 'Living'in this design relates more to being of a practical nature, the reality of an artist being able work endlessely on their finely detailed work rather than finding themselves navigating a fluctuating body

Nolan's studio was designed from the word 'stretching'. The mayan-temple structure is a repetition of squares that stretch out to mimic Nolan's style of painting. Often his characters such as ned kelly are painted in squared forms whilst he still maintains a structural background that shows some realism. By trying to combine a part of the artist's character with the word 'stretching'have come up with this studio with the intention of fitting the client's style.

Artist's materials and production methods

Piccinini:
Piccinini's "The Young Family" is made using silicon, polyurethane, acrylics, leather and human hair. Piccinini's sculpture would have taken the process of building a rough model before starting the slow and detailed process of applying leather over the polyurethane body. Careful detail has been put into making the folds of skin with silicon as well as the positioning of human hair.

Nolan:
"Near Birdsville" is a painting composed from acrylics. Nolan has painted onto a board rather than using a traditional canvas to paint on. Nolan uses long brush strokes in making the sweeping desert plains. By doing this Nolan makes the image appear to have the element of blowing winds. Nolan's colour also blends into countless tones of brown from foreground to background.

Halo3 Trailer using Real Time environment- Havok game engine

The trailer runs all in real time meaning that this is all three dimensional models moving through the environment. Check out the cloud and lightning movement. As opposed to the Unreal Engine that we will be using to develop our models, Halo 3 uses the Havok engine.
